Email signatures, everyone has come across one, but what are they and why would you need one?
An email signature can be: a text, image, a company logo, or a custom HTML design. You come across the latter the most. This is due to a number of benefits that I am going to talk about in this article.
Informative
The main value of an email signature is that you can put information in it. In most cases this will be contact information such as: email address, name, telephone, mobile, and much more. The advantage of putting this information in the signature is that people no longer have to ask for it, but that they receive it directly with the email.
Company information is also often reflected in the signature. Think of things like: a logo, name, location, ETC. this belongs more to the communication part of the signature, but I will write more about that later.
Another part of the email signature can be a disclaimer. But due to the extensive use of these, they have lost much of their value, and are seen by many people as just unnecessary stuffing of the mail.
Usefull communication tool
The email signature is a handy communication tool. For example, if you use an email signature with few colors and clean lines, the email quickly gets a serious and formal impression. On the other hand, with a more colorful signature you can create a more open and informal impression. You can also reflect your brand in it, and this makes your emails look more professional.
What make a good email signature.
The most important thing about a good email signature is that it is short and to the point. This is mainly because people are less likely to read an elaborate email signature than one that is simpler. Another benefit of a simpler email signature is that it generally looks more consistent across email platforms. We will discuss more things that make a good email signature in a future article.
